MEET NIKO
I always find that the about pages on websites never really delve into the person or movement you’re looking into. As if they’re ghostwritten. So I wanted this to be an accurate and authentic snapshot of who I am and what Embrace Impossible represents.
I started in the fitness industry 14 years ago clueless and riddled with bad habits from a life growing up in Wales around old school bodybuilders, fighters and athletes. I was a semi professional footballer, Welsh Champion High jumper and hurdler, a blackbelt in Kickboxing and great all rounder. It wasn’t until i started making mistakes and maturing as a personal trainer that I started to form my ethos on training.
If I still have your attention it means you’re willing to read further…I started as broke reformer pilates teacher and freelance trainer. Teaching reformer 25 hours a week opened my eyes to power of simple and accurate cueing. The better I understood how a class of people understood movement instructions, the more advanced my coaching became.
Then I found the TRX and my fitness career changed. I applied all my previous training knowledge and my newfound pilates skills to this weird strap thing and stood in Hyde Park London for 40 hours a week in the cold, the rain, the boiling hot summers for 2 years until i’d crafted my own way of using the TRX. I was jam packed with clients who wanted “the TRX guy” as their trainer.
Roll on 5 years of a packed client roster, I then co-founded the hugely successful West London boutique studio, Equilibrium, with my brother Jay Brockway. Equilibrium started a movement of people coming to us to achieve goals and movements once considered impossible. We created TRX classes and training programmes that could adapt to and challenge professional athletes, to working Mum’s, pop stars and pensioners. We trainers stars such Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Bebe Rexha Nicole Sherzinger, as well as members of the British Royal Family.
I touted myself as the World’s top TRX Trainer with content creation skills to match and in 2020 TRX signed my brother as the lead trainers and co-founders of TRX Training Club. We spent two years designing and teaching the programme to trainers and clients worldwide. It was a dream come true but not the end of the journey.
From the Equilibrium days, the TRX experience and to moving to New York in 2022 I always had the “helping people achieve the once considered impossible” in the forefront of an ethos built on laser focused technique and great programming. In 2023 I created my fitness app, Embrace Impossible. An app that allows people of any sex and age to become something they never thought possible.
The point of Embrace Impossible is that everyone’s impossible is different. Yours may be to perform a full squat, do one box jump, hold a TRX handstand for 30s. It’s personal to you but fully achievable through the right guidance, technique and programming.
What is your YOUR impossible?
Niko.
